Climate Diplomacy Week 2016
European Embassies around the globe celebrate the Climate Diplomacy Week from 12th till 18th of September for the third time. The Climate Diplomacy Week aims to raise awareness for climate change and the need for joint action. Over the past year, Germany, France and the UK have launched joint projects under the umbrella of Climate Diplomacy in over 30 countries.
The conclusion of the 21st Convention on Climate Change in Paris was a great success. For the first time there is a universal agreement to limit global warming. Nevertheless, there remains much to be done to now implement the agreement. Reducing carbon dioxide emissions as well as keeping the global temperature rise below 2° Celsius are essential in order to mitigate climate change. Supporting adaptation to and mitigation of climate change play a major role in Cambodia and are addressed by launched projects. Cambodia is especially vulnerable to impacts of climate change due to its geographical location and low development.
