Meeting with opposition party acting President (11.01.2017)
Enlarge image (© Deutsche Botschaft Phnom Penh) The German Ambassador, Dr. Karsten, met with the acting President of the oppositional Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), H.E. Kem Sokha, to discuss the current political situation in Cambodia. The acting President appraised the good and close cooperation with German institutions, especially the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation and the Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation. He affirmed his intention to continue seeking dialog with Prime Minister Hun Sen and the ruling Cambodian People Party (CPP). The German Ambassador Dr. Karsten appreciated this effort of improving the relations between the opposition and the government. Regarding the upcoming communal elections in June this year and the general election in 2018, Deputy Kem Sokha expressed his hope for further support provided by the international community to contribute to free and fair elections.
